I'm from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Before starting the PhD program here at ETSU, I received my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with a Strength and Conditioning emphasis from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 2010. During the spring semester of my final year, I completed a research internship at Marquette University and found that my passion in this field was research. Following graduation, I continued on to complete my Master's Degree in Human Performance with an Applied Sports Science emphasis at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse (2012). While at UWL, my research focused on comparing the kinetics of Olympic lift variations. I am currently pursuing the sport physiology track of the PhD program here at ETSU. My research interests include: sports biomechanics, post-activation potentiation, power development, athletic performance enhancement, and plyometrics.

Originally from Middletown, New Jersey, I received my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Manhattan College (2008) in Riverdale, NY. Following my undergraduate studies, I earned my Master’s degree in Exercise Science from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (2009). After ESU, in addition to being an adjunct faculty member at Monmouth University (West Long Branch, NJ) and County College of Morris (Randolph, NJ) I worked for 2 years in the private strength and conditioning/sports performance facility. I’ve recently moved to Johnson City, TN to pursue a Ph.D. in Sports Physiology here at ETSU. My research interests include: post activation potentiation and its application in complex training methods, the effects of accentuated eccentric loading on jumping and reactive strength, and the role of various leg muscle qualities (RFD, stiffness, reactive strength etc.) in agility and change of direction movements. My favorite sports are track and field, ice hockey, and weightlifting.

I was born in Brazil, in a city called Uberlândia-MG (one day you will hear about it!). There I received my undergraduate degree in Physical Education (Federal University of Uberlândia – UFU) – in Brazil, unfortunately, we just have the PE major that tries to connect what is Physical Education, Kinesiology and Exercise Science here in the US. After that, I moved to our National Capital, Brasília-DF (no, it is not São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro and not even close Buenos Ayres), for my master’s degree also in Physical Education studying Physical Activity and Health in the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB).
After two years teaching in Brazil, I decided to do my doctorate in Sports Science, in something that I always wanted to study deeper: Sports Performance. After some e-mails sent and received with one of the greatest names of the field, some tests, conversations with my parents; here I am, trying to get the most of this experience and willing to help in whatever I can.
